How to Use Android’s Multitasking Features (Split Screen)
1. Open the Apps You Want to Use
- Start by opening the two apps you want to use in split screen mode. Ensure both apps are running in the background.
2. Access the Recent Apps Screen
- Gesture Navigation: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold.
- Button Navigation: Tap the square or the recent apps button, usually found at the bottom of the screen.
3. Select the First App
- In the recent apps view, find the first app you want to use. Tap on the app icon at the top of its preview.
4. Choose Split Screen
- A menu will appear with various options. Tap on “Split screen” or the split screen icon.
5. Select the Second App
- The first app will move to the top or side of the screen (depending on your device’s orientation). You will now see the recent apps screen again.
- Select the second app you want to use from the list. This app will appear in the other half of the screen.
6. Adjust the Split Screen Size
- You can adjust the size of each app’s window by dragging the divider line. Move it up or down (or left or right) to resize the windows as needed.
Additional Tips
1. Exit Split Screen Mode
- To exit split screen mode, drag the divider line all the way to the top or bottom (or left or right) of the screen, depending on the orientation. This will close one of the apps and return the other app to full-screen mode.
2. Use Picture-in-Picture Mode
- For supported apps (like video players or Google Maps), you can use picture-in-picture mode. When using an app that supports this feature, press the home button and the app will minimize to a small window that you can move around on your screen.
3. Check for Compatibility
- Not all apps support split screen mode. If you don’t see the split screen option, it means the app doesn’t support this feature.
By following these steps, you’ll be able to use Android’s multitasking features like split screen effectively.
