The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were released on September 22nd, 2017. This would be the 11th generation of iPhones. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were the successors of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The iPhone 8 was discontinued by Apple on April 15, 2020, with the release of the iPhone SE 2020. The Design of the iPhone 8
Except for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus having glass backing, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus design is extremely similar to the devices before. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus had one notable change: removing the rose gold and jet black color options. The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus internal hardware is similar to the iPhone X.

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were released on iOS 11 but can operate on the newest software, iOS 15. This gives consumers the ability to not break the bank but still get a reliable device like the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus for a great price. The only true negative about the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus is the aging design, which was dated back to the iPhone 6 released in September 2014, and that the 256GB model was discontinued on September 10, 2019.

Still unsure if the iPhone 8 is worth it? Camera testing company DxOMark gave the iPhone 8 camera a score of 92 and gave the iPhone 8 Plus camera a score of 94. At the time, this gave the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus cameras the title of best smartphone cameras tested by the company. Aside from the battery, consumers would usually say a camera is a big buying point, so with that being said the cameras in both these devices make it worth buying due to that alone!
The Verdict for the iPhone 8
Ultimately, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are still amazing devices and are worth the buy if you do not need the newest and greatest specs in a device. The internal hardware is essentially the same as the iPhone X. The iPhone 8 allows for Qi wireless charging and regular charging with Apple’s proprietary lightning charging cable. At the time of release, the A11 processor was praised by many and stated the camera was “excellent!” David Pierce said that the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were “virtually perfect phones.” So, yes, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus is still worth it.
