iPhone XR vs. Huawei p30: Making your best choice

Whether you're buying a new phone for yourself or someone else, doing your research is important. The possible incompatibilities can be frustrating and time-consuming to fix. In this blog post, we'll compare the iPhone XR vs. Huawei p30from a technical standpoint.

So, you can choose the best phone by considering features that might matter most to you. New smartphones have been coming out of the woodwork in the last few months. One of the latest is from iPhone XR vs Huawei p30. However, it's hard to keep up with the changes from which device without a cheat sheet.

Design and display

The iPhone XR is made of glass and aluminum with a frame. The iPhone XR has an aluminum frame that is 7000 series and has Ruggedised technology, making it more durable than other aluminum frames. The XR also has a Glass front (Gorilla Glass) and back (Gorilla Glass) for improved durability.

The iPhone XR's design follows similar trends and motifs as other iPhone models before it while maintaining its unique look. Its volume rocker and power buttons are on the right side, which gives you access to both buttons while taking a screenshot or playing a game. There's an aluminum home button on the front, making it feel more like an iPhone than any other iPhone ever has, including older models.

The Huawei P30 Pro is the exact opposite. While the iPhone XR's design is new and different from previous models, the Huawei P30 Pro looks almost precisely like a P20 Pro. The glass back reflects the light perfectly, making it look more luxurious than other phones on the market with glass backs — especially a similar-looking phone like the Alcatel 3. As you might expect, Huawei equips its P30 Pro with a stunning OLED display at 6.1 inches.

Specs and performance

A Hexa-core processor powers Apple's iPhone XR, and it comes with one more core than the iPhone 8 Plus. With the addition of Apple's A12 Bionic chipset, the iPhone XR can deliver quick and smooth performance — no matter what you're doing. While Apple didn't provide a CPU benchmark, some reports have placed the A12 Bionic device in the same league as Qualcomm and Huawei devices with higher-end processors.

The P30 Pro also ships with a Snapdragon 845 processor. But unlike the iPhone XR, the Huawei P30 Pro has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which is more than enough to keep you entertained while it's running games or watching videos in full HD. But, the Pro P30 does not only do that. It also comes with a hefty 6.1-inch OLED display 91.3 cm2 (~85.8% screen-to-body ratio).

At the same time, iPhone XR also has 6.1-inch display 90.3 cm2 (~79.0% screen-to-body ratio). Its full HD+ resolution is also better than the iPhone XR's, which is Full HD+, and its 3,700mAh battery allows the P30 Pro to go longer on a single charge than the iPhone XR's 2,716mAh battery — another key difference between these two phones.

Camera and storage

The Apple iPhone XR doesn't have a dual camera like the Huawei P30 Pro. Instead, it comes with a single 12-megapixel shooter on the back, along with a 7-megapixel selfie camera. The iPhone XR's single selfie camera is like Samsung's existing rear cameras, as both phones come with an f/1.8 aperture lens, and both feature OIS (optical image stabilization).

With the Huawei P30 Pro, you have a dual-camera setup on the back, also referred to as a telephoto camera. It has a 40-megapixel primary lens and an 8-megapixel secondary lens to help with depth of field, which helps when taking portraits.

With the Huawei P30 Pro, you have one of the best cameras on any smartphone today. It has an f/1.6 aperture lens, a large 1/1.6-inch sensor, and an intelligent 4-in-1 3D innovative pixel system — which all combine for some of the best photos and videos you can take on a smartphone today.

Suppose you're an amateur or even pro photographer. In that case, the Huawei P30 Pro can not only take great shots, yet it can film 4K at 60 frames per second and 1080p at 240 frames per second — both of which quickly destroy the iPhone XR's 30 and 60 fps capabilities. Both models come with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB of storage.

Battery life

The Huawei P30 Pro has a 3,650 mAh battery, significantly more significant than the 2,942 mAh battery in the iPhone XR. While the Huawei P30 Pro doesn't support wireless charging, it does have a fast-charging feature where you can charge it up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes.

With the iPhone XR, Apple gives you a 2942 mAh battery. That's small compared to the 3,650 mAh battery in the Huawei P30 Pro, but that's not what makes it fall short in this category. The biggest issue with Apple's iPhone XR is its inability to last more than a day on a single charge. In comparison, the Huawei P30 Pro offers up to two days of battery life.

Quick overview

The iPhone XR and the Huawei P30 are excellent phones, but one is better for different reasons. Here we look at which one is best for your needs, budget, and lifestyle.

iPhone XR:

  • a cheaper phone on the market today
  • built-in battery wireless charging
  • 2x better video recording quality (primary camera)

Huawei P30:

  • the best camera
  • built-in battery wireless charging (only at 41% of the battery) that charges faster than any iPhone charging pad
  • has a better front-facing camera quality and sensor than iPhone XR

Winner: iPhone XR

The iPhone XR has the best camera, but the P30 Pro isn't far behind it. Its dual-camera configuration is better than the iPhone XR's single camera and offers better optics — especially with Portrait mode and its f/1.6 aperture lens. While you won't be taking professional-quality photos with the P30 Pro, you can take some pretty good shots with its camera.

We like the iPhone's design, and it feels better in our hands. It's more compact and easier to use with one hand, which is essential for those who use their phones on-the-go without a case. However, we think the P30 Pro offers more to do on a day-to-day basis, and its larger display allows you to better deal with media

It is a big deal if you're watching videos and playing games regularly. If you wish to purchase an iPhone XR, head to Plug Tech and find the best offer. They are available at lower prices than usual, and nothing holds you back; get it now.
